Not sure which perfume to choose? You are not alone. Faced with hundreds of fragrances you cannot smell online, it is easy to get lost. That is why we created “Find your perfume”: a free 4-question quiz that shows you, in under a minute, the perfumes in our shop that truly match you.
Why is choosing a perfume so hard?
Choosing a perfume means choosing a signature. Yet three obstacles often get in the way:
- You cannot smell through a screen. Online, you have to rely on descriptions and notes, a vocabulary not everyone is familiar with.
- The choice is huge. Our catalogue brings together nearly 900 oriental perfumes from Lattafa, Armaf, French Avenue, Maison Alhambra, Afnan and many other houses. Browsing them all is impossible.
- Notes can be misleading. Two “vanilla” perfumes can be completely different: one fresh and light, the other warm and ambery. What matters is the balance of the composition and when you will wear it.
So our quiz starts from your tastes and wishes, not from perfumer jargon. It does the sorting for you.
How does the “Find your perfume” quiz work?
The test is just 4 simple questions. No sign-up and no email address needed: you answer, and your results appear instantly.
Question 1: who is this perfume for?
For her, for him, unisex or no preference. Unisex perfumes are always included, because many oriental fragrances are worn by men and women alike.
Question 2: what mood are you looking for?
Think of when you will wear it. Four moods to choose from:
- Fresh and light: for daytime and summer.
- Soft and comforting: a skin scent to wear all year round.
- Warm and cosy: for autumn and winter.
- Intense and sensual: for evenings and special occasions.
Question 3: which scent families do you like?
Pick up to three families out of nine: fresh, marine, floral, fruity, gourmand, woody, amber, spicy, oud and leather. Each family comes with concrete examples (vanilla, caramel, coffee for gourmand; sandalwood, cedar, vetiver for woody…) so you can choose without being an expert. To go further, our guide to fragrance families explains them one by one.
You can also say what you don't like: oud, leather and tobacco, or perfumes that are too sweet. Those perfumes are then removed from your results.
Question 4: what is your budget?
Under €35, €35 to €45, over €45 or no preference. The quiz only shows perfumes in your price range. If your combination of criteria is too narrow, it automatically widens the search to suggest close alternatives.
Your results: a tailor-made selection
At the end of the test, you discover your scent profile and a selection of perfumes ranked by compatibility. For each perfume you see:
- a match score (for example “96% match”) and a “Best match” label on the top result;
- the full fragrance pyramid (top, heart and base notes), with its source: Fragrantica, the brand's official website or several retailers;
- its inspiration, if any (“in the spirit of…”, “same DNA as…”), or the label “original creation”;
- the live price and availability, with a button to add it straight to your cart.
The quiz also varies the houses it suggests, so you discover several worlds rather than ten versions of the same scent.
Already love a perfume? Find its equivalent
The quiz offers a second path: “I already have a perfume I love”. Just type the name of a famous perfume you like, for example Baccarat Rouge 540, Sauvage or Aventus, and the quiz instantly shows you:
- our equivalents of that perfume, ranked from closest to furthest;
- a selection of perfumes with the closest notes, calculated from their actual composition;
- a filter to show only perfumes for her or for him.
It is the fastest way to find a signature you already love, often for a fraction of the price. You can also browse the whole Our Inspirations collection, and learn in our guide to Dubai perfumes why an inspired perfume is a legal, authentic creation.
The benefits of our perfume quiz
- Fast: 4 questions, under a minute.
- Free, no sign-up: no personal data required.
- Based on verified notes: every perfume has been analysed note by note, not guessed from its name.
- Always up to date: prices, discounts and stock are read live from the shop. No bad surprise with an out-of-stock perfume.
- Made for everyone: no need to know perfumery vocabulary, every choice is explained simply.
- Available in French and English, on desktop and mobile.
Our tips for even better results
- Think about use first: an office perfume for summer has nothing in common with a winter evening scent. Take the test once per use if needed.
- Don't tick too many families: two or three are enough. The more precise you are, the more meaningful the match score.
- Use the “don't like” options: excluding oud or overly sweet perfumes sharpens the selection a lot.
- Open the notes: click “See the notes” to compare the fragrance pyramids of your favourites before choosing.
- Edit your answers: a button lets you go back or retake the test as many times as you like.
The quiz, perfect for gifting a perfume
Giving a perfume is always a gamble. The quiz makes it much safer: answer with the person in mind (are they more into freshness or sweetness? a daytime or evening scent?), and you get a selection suited to their tastes and your budget. And if you know their favourite perfume, the “I already have a perfume I love” path shows you our equivalents straight away.

Frequently asked questions
Is the “Find your perfume” quiz free?
Yes, completely. It asks for no sign-up and no email address: your results appear right after the 4 questions.
How long does the test take?
Under a minute. You just click your answers, without typing anything (unless you are looking for the equivalent of a specific perfume).
What does the match percentage mean?
It is how closely the perfume matches your answers: mood, chosen families and gender. Above 90%, the perfume ticks almost all your boxes. Perfumes you excluded (oud, leather, too sweet) or outside your budget do not appear.
Are the results reliable?
The quiz relies on the actual composition of each perfume (top, heart and base notes), verified on Fragrantica, the brands' official websites or several retailers. The source is shown under each fragrance pyramid. That said, everyone's skin reacts differently: the quiz guides you, your nose decides.
Can I retake the test?
As many times as you like. You can also change a single answer without starting over.
How do I know if a perfume will last?
Most oriental perfumes are highly concentrated and long-lasting. To go further, read our 8 tips to make your perfume last all day.
